CAT STEVENS
I've always pondered what Cat Steven's cat might be named. A couple years ago...while painting in my oil class, I voiced this
question out loud. The next class as I was getting set up, a guy I liked to call 'Antelers' (because of his unique hairstyle)
walked up to me, handed me a print out paper from the web and said, "Kabuki."
Huh? what was he talking about?
"Kabuki was the name of his cat," he said.
I looked down at the sheet, there was a picture of a cat and a little blurb about how people always wanted to see it's
picture. It was an old picture from the 70's though, so I'm assuming the cat is most likely dead (unless it has 9 lives) and
the second sheet was the cat and her babies. Antelers says, "So, Kabuki had offspring, you could get a piece of that!"
I just think it's awesome that someone went to the trouble to find this information out for me, print it out and staple
it. He apparently found it on some website called 'magicat'-ha!
I'm assuming he probably has a newer cat now. It's name COULD still be 'cat' or 'stevens'. Or 'Katmandu' !!!

JACK KEROAUC
Jack Kerouac was known for his love of his cats (especially in his later years).
Here are a couple of haikus he's written with cats as the subject.
And the quiet cat
sitting by the post
Perceives the moon
The moon had
a cat's mustache
For a second
Following each other
my cats stop
when it thunders.
If I go out now,
my paws
will get wet

BILL CLINTON
Socks was adopted by the Clinton family in 1991 after leaping into the arms of their daughter, Chelsea after a piano recital.
During Bill Clinton's presidency, children visiting the White House website would get a 'tour' by a cartoon version of
Socks.
In 1997, the Clinton's adopted Buddy, a labrador retreiver. According to Hillary Clinton, Socks "despised Buddy from
first sight, instantly and forever." Bill Clinton concurred, "I did better with....the Palestinians and the Isralis
than I've done with Socks and Buddy."
I don't blame Socks....he was there FIRST. Plus he was only the fourth cat in the White House since FDR's presidency.
Socks currently resides with Bill Clinton's secretary, Betty Currie and her husband in Hollywood, Maryland.

JOHN LENNON
John Lennon was a long time cat lover. From growing up as a boy through his adult life as a musical superstar.
Cynthia Lennon remembers when her, John and Julian moved into their first home in Weybridge, England, "Once the house
was finished John insisted we get a cat - he'd grown up with them, of course, and loved them. The first [a tabby] was named
Mimi, after his cat loving aunt. Two more soon followed [including one named Babaghi, another tabby] and eventually we had
about ten."
With May Ping, John had two cats (one black, one white), Major and Minor.
John continued the black and white cat tradition with Yoko, naming the two opposites Salt and Pepper. The couple also
had three Persians and a Russian Blue.
John was also known for his many drawings, several of which included cats, such as this one.

IAN ANDERSON
Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull is an advocate for kitties, especially wild cats and domesticated wild cats in particular.
"I hope that the information here is of some stimulation to any of you who have ever cuddled a new pet kitten or
simply admired one of nature's minor miracles. The little guy who shares your home is a tiny step away, genetically speaking,
from the wide array of the 36 species of wild cat, big and small.
They all, to a man, are the pussies cat."
